The Coronation of King Charles III will take place on Saturday, 6 May 2023, it has been confirmed - that is the same date as the day Aston Villa visit Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
A statement on the Royal website read: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to announce that the Coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6th May, 2023.
The Coronation Ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort.

The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry. Further details will be announced in due course."
Those details will likely outline what we might expect as regards to the attending and taking place of sporting events that weekend.
Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8 September, it was decided by the football governing bodies that all matches at every level were to be postponed over the course of the period between Friday 9 - Monday 12 September.
That was despite the fact that other sports, including cricket and rugby, decided to continue.
The DCMS have already outlined that it is too early to offer any guidance for supporters, but discussions are set to take place over the next few weeks and they will devise a plan, which the Premier League are likely to follow.
Villa and Wolves, of course, are both set for the biggest international break next month when the World Cup takes place in Qatar; the break between mid-November and Boxing Day means that the domestic fixture list is set to be even more congested than normal in 2023.
Both sides will still have three league games remaining after their Molineux meeting, with the top flight fixture schedule running all the way through to the end of May. The two sides firstly meet each other in the reverse fixture at Villa Park on 2 January.
