Proteas make key decision ahead of T20 World Cup

Mark Boucher will soon leave his position as Proteas coach. Photo: Archives Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) National Selection Committee has today named Marco Jansen in the 15-man Proteas squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. RESULT: PROTEAS SUFFER COSTLY DEFEAT TO INDIA! The 22-year-old bowler replaces the injured Dwaine Pretorius after he was ruled out due to a fracture sustained to his left thumb during the recent T20 International series against India. Titans paceman Lizaad Williams has been called up to replace Jansen amongst the travelling reserves. For the Proteas, there may have been a temptation to opt for Andile Phehlukwayo over Jansen, but they have gone the route of backing the 22-year-old left-arm paceman, who has also proven to be a more-than-capable batsman.
