Not surprisingly, Stricker’s idol while growing up was 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
“Of course, if you live in Switzerland…My one big idol [had to be] Roger Federer,” he told the ATP Tour. “Roger is Swiss and has a pretty similar game to how I would like to play.”
The two have also practiced together with Federer inviting Stricker to do some pre-season training in Dubai at the end of the 2021 season. “Roger invited Dominic to Dubai twice already to do some practice, some pre-season stuff, so that was really helpful. Roger knows us now pretty well and we got some really good tips from him,” his coach told the ATP Tour.
Was Dominic Stricker a good junior?
Dominic Stricker reached a career-high ranking of No 8 as a junior. He won the French Open boys singles event, beating compatriot Leandro Riedi in the final, and the doubles event in 2020, partnering Flavio Cobolli. This made him the first player to sweep both the titles in Paris since Fernando Gonzalez in 1998.

Stricker says he loves following other sports and likes to watch them live as well. “If I’m on Tour, I really love to see different sports. It was pretty impressive to see the NBA. It is such a great sport. I would say my favourite sports are football and ice hockey. I support Young Boys. They are good in the Swiss League. They won a few championships,” he said.
